Snappy Swim school was started in 2007 after both Donna and Jacy identified an urgent need for swimming lessons for children with Special Needs.

Whilst inclusion in mainstream classes is preferred by many, the sad reality is that this means that children who are unable to fit into these classes generally miss out.

Donna and Jacy decided that what was needed were swimming lessons in an environment that was friendly to children with special needs, where factors such as water quality, temperature, change facilities and distractions could be taken into account.

They approached Tallowood School in Kellyville to see whether it would be possible to hire out their Hydrotherapy pool when the school was not using it. The school agreed readily to this and Snappy was ready to start!

The pool has all of the factors that make it a fantastic venue for learn to swim. Water quality is impeccable, temperature is a steady 32 degrees, full disabled change facilities are provided and distractions are kept to a minimum, with no general swimming permitted whilst lessons are in progress.

Both Donna and Jacy both have up to date qualifications and are constantly researching swimming techniques and ways to incorporate these into their programs for students with Special Needs.

Both Donna and Jacy are extensively involved in the local community, volunteering with Special Olympics as coaches and also with Lifesaving, with the Hills Swimming and Lifesaving club.

Their love of teaching and their methods of teaching children and adults with Special Needs has ensured a steady increase in their client base since they commenced business in 2007.
